2-minute fit check
Starlink fit check: will it work at your house?
Eight quick questions about your sky, your roof and your home. You get a plain answer and the next steps. No address, no sign-up, nothing saved.
Your home, step by step
Stand where you’d put the dish if you can. Answer what you see.
Don’t order yet if…
- a sky scan in the Starlink app at your spot still shows blocked sky you can’t get above
- your landlord, HOA or building hasn’t agreed where the dish goes and you have no private outdoor space
- the house needs a connection for a few months or one visit, not year-round
How the fit check works
It weighs the things that decide whether Starlink works at a house: how much open sky the dish can see, how many sides are blocked, whether a higher mount is possible, what kind of trees you have, and whether you’re allowed to put the dish where it needs to go. It’s deliberately cautious. If your answers are borderline, it says to test first.
The only real test of an exact spot is a sky scan in the Starlink app, which uses your phone’s camera. Every result above ends with it. Here’s how to use it, step by step.
Questions this page answers
Is this fit check the same as a sky scan in the Starlink app?
No. Ours is a quick first answer from what you tell us, and it never asks where you live. The sky scan in the Starlink app uses your phone’s camera at the exact spot and is the real test. Do both: ours first to see if it’s worth checking, the app before you order. How to use the app check.
Do I need to enter my address?
Not here. This check runs on what you can see from the spot, so it has no use for an address, ZIP code or location. Your price, and whether service is open at your house, appear after you key the address into starlink.com.
What if the result says “test before you buy”?
It means something about your spot could cause dropouts, or the rules for where the dish can go need sorting first. Run the app’s sky scan at a few spots, try the sky angle calculator for a pole height, and read the guide for your situation.
Does it matter which side the trees are on?
Starlink doesn’t say that any one compass direction matters more for today’s home dishes. What matters is how much of the sky is blocked and how high things rise. Two or more blocked sides leave far fewer gaps, so the check counts how many sides are affected. Which way the dish faces.
Does my answer get saved or sent anywhere?
No. The check runs only in your browser. Close the page and your answers are gone.
